Equipment Enclosures

Protect the equipment. Preserve access.

An equipment enclosure must fit the equipment and the people who service it. Define the operating environment, access paths and heat-management requirements before closing the design around a set of overall dimensions.

Stainless steel equipment enclosure with access doors and ventilation louvers

FUNCTION / FORM / SITE

Define the complete product scope.

Fabrication examples include folded cabinets, removable covers, access doors and louvered housings. Identify mounting points, cable and pipe entries, door swing and service clearances. Internal equipment, electrical installation and commissioning should be clearly separated from the fabricated shell scope.

Ventilation openings, gaskets and penetrations affect the enclosure's performance. NEMA, IP, electrical or other ratings cannot be inferred from material or appearance. Where a rating is needed, state it in the brief and agree the design, testing and certification responsibilities before manufacture.

PRODUCT OPTIONS

Examples to shape your brief.

01

Service cabinets

Fabricated housings with hinged or removable access panels and coordinated equipment mounts.

02

Process equipment covers

Sheet metal assemblies developed around cleaning access, inspection and operating interfaces.

03

Outdoor housings

Enclosures with exposure, runoff, condensation and secure access considered in the design brief.

DESIGN / PROCUREMENT

Resolve the details that affect the result.

01

Internal envelope

Provide equipment models or drawings, cable bending space, mounting loads and maintenance-removal paths.

02

Environment and heat

Define temperature, heat dissipation, dust, water and chemical exposure. Ventilation must suit the complete system.

03

Verification scope

List required ratings and acceptance checks. Agree who validates the assembled enclosure, including supplied hardware and penetrations.

Material and fabrication choices.

YOUR PRODUCT BRIEF

Give the quote a clear starting point.

  • Product dimensions, a sketch or drawing reference, and quantity.
  • Material and finish preferences, exposure and intended use.
  • Mounting substrate, site interfaces and installation requirements.
  • Delivery city and province, access constraints and desired dates.
  • Required design review, inspection or performance documentation.

Product configuration, fabrication feasibility, delivery and installation scope are confirmed against your requirements. Inquiries are welcome across Canada; the quotation defines the commitments for your location.

QUESTIONS / ANSWERS

Before you specify.

Is a stainless cabinet automatically washdown-rated?

No. Seams, doors, seals, vents and penetrations all affect performance. Specify the required rating and verification process separately.

Can mounting plates and cut-outs be included?

Provide a dimensioned layout and equipment interface details. Identify which openings are factory-made and which are field-installed.

Does the scope include electrical equipment?

Electrical supply, installation and certification are separate unless explicitly included in the agreed quotation. A fabricated shell does not establish electrical compliance.

What is needed to quote an enclosure?

Include external and internal dimensions, mounting layout, doors and hardware, ventilation, material, finish, exposure conditions and any required ratings.
