TRANSIT & MOBILITY / CUSTOM FABRICATION

Bus Shelters

A coordinated frame, roof and passenger space.

Passenger shelters bring structural metalwork, roof drainage, infill panels and furniture into one site assembly. Start with the stop layout and operating requirements so fabrication fits the boarding area and maintenance plan.

FUNCTION / FORM / SITE

Define the complete product scope.

Potential fabrication scope includes columns, roof members, base plates, glazing channels, bench supports and replaceable trim. Distinguish the metalwork package from glazing supply, electrical work, foundations and installation. Each interface should have a named design and supply responsibility.

Wind, snow and foundation requirements depend on the site and the approved design. Shelter dimensions alone do not establish structural suitability. Coordinate local approvals, boarding clearances, sightlines and accessible circulation before finalizing the frame and panel arrangement.

PRODUCT OPTIONS

Examples to shape your brief.

01

Transit-stop frames

Modular posts and roof assemblies coordinated with boarding pads, pedestrian routes and adjacent street furniture.

02

Campus and shuttle stops

Site-specific shelters with seating and infill choices matched to the passenger setting.

03

Refurbishment components

Replacement brackets, trim, bench supports and panels developed from a surveyed existing structure.

DESIGN / PROCUREMENT

Resolve the details that affect the result.

01

Loads and approvals

Provide location, design criteria and engineering requirements. Confirm who supplies calculations, drawings and permit documents.

02

Replaceable infill

Coordinate glazing type, panel sizes, edge support and replacement access with the glazing supplier.

03

Foundations and logistics

Resolve anchors, underground utilities, lifting access and transport module sizes before fabrication release.

Material and fabrication choices.

YOUR PRODUCT BRIEF

Give the quote a clear starting point.

  • Product dimensions, a sketch or drawing reference, and quantity.
  • Material and finish preferences, exposure and intended use.
  • Mounting substrate, site interfaces and installation requirements.
  • Delivery city and province, access constraints and desired dates.
  • Required design review, inspection or performance documentation.

Product configuration, fabrication feasibility, delivery and installation scope are confirmed against your requirements. Inquiries are welcome across Canada; the quotation defines the commitments for your location.

QUESTIONS / ANSWERS

Before you specify.

Does the metalwork quote include foundations and glazing?

The quotation should list these separately. Identify whether you need a frame package, coordinated supply or installation scope so interfaces can be priced clearly.

Can lighting or heating be included?

Identify the equipment and electrical requirements at inquiry stage. Integration, qualified electrical work and power availability require separate coordination; these features are not assumed.

Is there a standard snow-load rating?

No universal rating is offered here. The responsible engineer must establish site-specific loads and verify the complete assembly and foundation.

What should a shelter request include?

Send a site plan, approximate footprint, location, number of units, roof and infill preferences, seating needs, engineering scope and site-access restrictions.
